Managing customer records
There may be times when you need to delete or renumber a customer record.
Trimble does not recommend deleting customer records. If you must delete a record, Trimble recommends that your company’s system administrator delete the record. |
You use the Customers page to delete or renumber Customer master records.
Deleting a customer record
If you have Customer master records that you no longer need, you can delete those records from your system.
If there are units assigned to a customer record, you cannot delete that record. |
There are two ways to delete customer records:

Removing the record
To use this method, you must remove all units from the record and complete all orders associated with this customer. This method removes the Customer master record from your system completely.Note: Trimble does not recommend using this method.

Marking the record as inactive
To use this method, you must remove all units from the record. However, you must leave at least one open order associated with this customer. This method marks the Customer master record as inactive (also known as soft-delete).Note: Making a customer inactive removes it from the customer search, SSRS reports, and from future orders.
To mark a Customer master record as inactive:

Open the customer’s record that you want to remove.

Click Delete.
The Delete Customer message window opens. The message asks "Delete customer Customer Number?"

Click Delete Customer.
Note: Depending on the method used, the system either removes the Customer master record from your system or marks it as inactive.To close this window without deleting the Customer record, click Cancel.
Renumbering a customer record
When you renumber a Customer master record, you change that customer’s ID number. This change updates the following records:

Customer master record
-
Unit master record
-
Repair Orders
-
Invoices
To renumber a customer:

Click Renumber Customer.
The Renumber Customer window opens.

Enter the new customer ID in the New Customer field.
Note: The system prevents you from entering a duplicate customer ID.

Click OK.
To close this window without renumbering the Customer master record, click Cancel.
