Reviewing the rules that control the Apply Highest Rate feature
Before using the Apply Highest Rate feature, you should understand the rules that affect it.
1. To have the system always apply the highest rate found, you must be using the Rate by Detail rating method. Applying the highest rate found is not applicable to orders created using the Rate by Total rating method.
2. The applicable rates must use the same charge units and rate units. For example, weight-based rates using pounds as the charge unit and $/100 lbs as the rate unit. If rates are used with different charge and rate units, the charges will be unpredictable.
3. An applicable rate cannot have minimum charge.
4. If a freight detail is pre-rated manually and the rate is fixed, the system will include this value when identifying the maximum rate for all freight details.
Note: The system will skip over a freight detail that has fixed charges when applying the applicable rate to all freight details.
5. Accessorial charges will not be removed or added when applying the highest rate to an order.
6. Revenue-based secondary charges are based on the total revenue resulting from the application of the highest rate.
