Setting up billing rates that combine volume-based quantities
By default, when you use Rate by Detail mode, the billing rate for each freight detail on an order is determined separately.
You can also set up your system to create billing rates that charge according to the total loaded volume for a trip. This is useful for clients who deliver orders that involve multiple live loads of a single volume-based commodity; for example, live loads of fuel from different oil tanks.
During rate selection, this feature:
1. Combines the quantities of all volume-based commodities that belong to the same Commodity Class 1 category
Note: The commodity class must be set up for use by this feature.
2. Selects a rate by comparing the total loaded volume to the quantities recorded in the Min/Max Volume fields on the rate index
3. Calculates the line haul charge by multiplying the selected rate by the quantity delivered
Notes:
1. This feature affects only:
Rate by Detail orders
Volume-based commodities that belong to the same commodity class and are set up to be combined
2. By default, the rating engine uses the delivered quantity to select a rate. However, this feature uses the loaded quantity for rate selection.
