Adding a region definition
A region definition identifies the locations that are acceptable (or not acceptable) for either the origin or the destination of an order. Each region definition defines just one stop.
An example of a region definition is shown here.
This definition indicates that a stop must occur in one of the states listed. The definition itself does not specify whether it pertains to an origin or a destination. The specification for origin or destination occurs in the rate index.
When the rating engine compares an order with the regions specified in the rate index, it looks for a match between the origin region and the order's origin. It also looks for a match between the destination region and the order's destination. If the order's origin matches a stop defined in the origin region but the destination does not match the destination region, the rate is eliminated as a match.
Note: Region definitions offer you greater control than trip definitions. This is because you can specify exactly which region definition is to be used for the origin, and which region definition is to be used for the destination. With trip definitions, you cannot specify which stop definition is to be used for the origin and which is to be used for the destination.
