Rate index
The rate index consists of a set of restrictions that determines when the rate is to be applied. The restrictions are entered directly below the rate header. If the same rate(s) apply for multiple sets of restrictions, multiple indexes may be defined for the same pay rate schedule.
The rate index also is used to classify a rate as primary (line haul), secondary (accessorial that is linked to a primary rate), or line item (accessorial that is applied on an “as needed” basis).
Index restriction fields are found on four tabs:
The name of each tab loosely identifies the types of restrictions found on it. No tab is more important than the others; restrictions have been divided up onto multiple tabs simply because of space constraints.
Illustrations of the index tabs are shown in the following subsections.
Note: For complete details on all the index tabs, see
Setting up a rate index.
Index tab
This tab primarily consists of restrictions related to the companies, cargo, revenue classifications, and origin and destination recorded on a trip. In addition, you record the rate's effective dates here.
Index Qty tab
This tab enables you to restrict rates based on minimum and/or maximum quantities.
Index Asset tab
This tab shows restrictions related to entries made on the profiles of the resources assigned to the trip.
Index Trip tab
The restrictions on this tab are for user-defined categories for trip types.
