Setting date restrictions
In a rate schedule index, two fields are available for setting date restrictions: the In Effect and To fields. These fields allow you to specify a range of dates corresponding to the date when the rate became active.
On the Restrict Rate Schedules window, options in the Effective Date Range section allow you to make entries that will restrict the rates retrieved based on:
When the rate went into effect.
When the rate expired.
A combination of when the rate went into effect and when it expired.
A range of dates during which the rate was in effect.
In addition, you can specify whether the system should exclude expired rates from the retrieval. These fields are described below.
Field
Definition
Exclude Expired Rates
This check box determines whether expired rates can be retrieved. When the check box is:
Selected
Expired rates are excluded from the retrieval.
Note: The Expired From and To fields become unavailable. The dates in these fields will not be used as criteria for the retrieval.
Cleared
Expired rates can be retrieved.
Note: The Expired From and To fields are used to set a range for expired dates.
Note: The Exclude Expired Rates check box is applicable only when the In Effect Starting radio button is selected. When the Anytime During radio button is selected, the Exclude Expired Rates check box is ignored.
In Effect Starting
From/To
The dates entered in these two fields are compared to the date the rate became active, which is the date recorded in the rate’s In Effect field. If the date recorded in the rate’s In Effect field is outside the date range specified in these two fields, the rate will not be retrieved.
Note: You must select the In Effect Starting radio button to use these fields.
Expired
From/To
When the Exclude Expired Rates check box is cleared, the Expired In Effect and To fields are available for editing.
The dates entered in these two fields are compared to the rate’s expiration date, which is the date recorded in the rate’s To field.
If the date recorded in the rate’s To field is outside the date range specified in these two fields, the rate will not be retrieved.
Notes:
1. You must select the In Effect Starting radio button to use the Expired From/To fields.
2. When the Exclude Expired Rates check box is selected, the dates in the Expired In Effect and To fields are not used as criteria for the retrieval. The fields become unavailable.
Anytime During
From/To
The dates entered in these two fields are compared to both the:
The rate’s effective date, which is the date recorded in the rate’s In Effect field.
The rate’s expiration date, which is the date recorded in the rate’s To field.
The system will retrieve all rates that were in effect anytime during the date range specified.
Notes:
1. You must select the Anytime During radio button to use the Anytime During From/To fields.
2. When you select the Anytime During radio button, the Exclude Expired Rates check box is selected by default and cannot be cleared.

Note: When setting restrictions in the Effective Date Range section, remember that all restrictions set in the Restrict Rate Schedules window will also be applied.
