Preventing adjustments to zero dollar table rates
By default, when you use the Group Adjust window to adjust the rates in a rate table by a flat amount, the flat amount is applied to each rate in the table, even rates having a zero dollar amount.
If you want to retain rates having a zero dollar amount, use the Do Not Update Zero Rates check box. When you are making a flat adjustment and select the check box, the system will skip zero dollar rates. The Do Not Update Zero Rates check box is available only when you retrieve rates first, and then select Flat Amount as the adjustment type.
For example, we have a rate table defined by origin state and destination state. We need Ohio as both a row entry and a column entry because Ohio serves as an origin point for some rates and as a destination state for others. However, we do not want this rate table used for loads that begin and end in Ohio, so when we set up the rate we kept the default value of 0.0000 in the state to state cells, e.g., OH to OH cell.
In the Group Adjust Schedule Rates window, we retrieved the rates first, and then adjusted the rate by a flat amount of $0.25.
When the Do Not Update Zero Rates check box is selected, the system does not adjust the zero dollar rates.
Note: This feature is applicable only to flat adjustments to rate tables.
