Default Settings

Many settings in Configure Fleet Settings include a Default checkbox. When selected, this automatically applies the setting to:

  • Any new vehicles or mobile devices added to Account Manager (either directly or via API or integration), if the vehicle or device is not assigned to a group. (For fleets that assign CoPilot licenses to vehicles or mobile devices.)

  • All new drivers. (For fleets that assign licenses to drivers.)

Default settings can help ensure routing consistency across your fleet.

You can set a default in addition to applying specific profiles and sets to vehicle groups. Defaults (except for map sets) only apply to a vehicle when it is not assigned to one or more groups. If it is, then the vehicle will get the profiles/sets associated with its group(s). Defaults apply to all new drivers when a fleet assigns licenses to drivers.

How Each Default Works

The behavior of each default varies depending on whether your fleet assigns licenses to Vehicles, Mobile Devices, or Drivers.

Vehicle or Mobile Device Licensed Fleets

  • Vehicle Routing Profiles: Vehicles or drivers not assigned to any group receive the default profile. Multiple defaults can be selected.

  • Configuration Profiles: Vehicles or drivers not assigned to any group receive the default profile. Only one default can be selected.

  • Map Sets: The Default Map Set is sent to all vehicles, regardless of group assignment.

  • Route Modifiers: Vehicles or drivers not assigned to any group receive the default set(s). Multiple defaults can be selected.

  • Custom Places: Vehicles or drivers not assigned to any group receive the default set(s). Multiple defaults can be selected.

Driver Licensed Fleets

Setting a default downloads the selected profile/set(s) to all devices.

All Vehicles Group and Defaults

Account Manager supports an optional All Vehicles Group to help streamline CoPilot settings for your vehicles. When enabled, all existing and newly added vehicles are automatically included in this group. The All Vehicles Group works like any other vehicle group. You can assign profiles and sets to the group, ensuring that every vehicle in your account receives consistent configurations.

The behavior of defaults (described above) remains the same when an account has an All Vehicles Group.
