Rating based on the furthest distance traveled
The Furthest Distance rating method allows you to rate an order based on the greatest distance between a pickup stop and any drop stop on the order. When you use the Compute function to rate an order, the system calculates the distance between each pickup stop and each drop stop. The number of miles for the stop with the greatest distance determines which rate is used.
In addition, if multiple commodities are being hauled, the system calculates separate mileages for each commodity.
For example, suppose a driver hauls fuel from Fairlawn, OH, to Canton, OH. He picks up gasoline from the rack in Fairlawn and delivers it to three separate drops in Medina, Uniontown, and Canton.
The system calculates the mileage from the pickup stop to each drop stop. In our example, the greatest distance between the pickup stop and a drop location is 29 miles.
Fairlawn to Medina is 13 miles
Fairlawn to Uniontown is 22 miles
Fairlawn to Canton is 29 miles
When we apply a Furthest Distance rate to the trip, the system determines that 29 miles is the greatest distance between the pickup stop and a drop stop. The system applies the rate that corresponds to that distance.
Note: This feature requires a commodity recorded on each stop.
