Required entries for a single per unit amount
If a rate schedule has a single rate, the rate header looks like this:
These entries are required:
Charge
The charge type determines the type of calculation that the system will use to determine the billed amount when the rate is applied. The Unit and RateUnit fields are read-only; they show entries recorded for the charge type.
Rate
The amount in the Rate field will be multiplied by the unit of measure on which the charge type is based. In the example shown above, the charge type is Freight (Distance), which is mileage-based. As a result, the system will multiply $3.50 by the total number of billable miles when it calculates the line haul charge. However, suppose you choose Freight (Count) as the charge type. Freight (Count) is based on a per piece unit of measure. Therefore, if you enter $3.50 in the Rate field, the system will multiply the number of pieces by $3.50 per piece.
