Setting up maximum flat rates
You can set up maximum flat rates in a primary or accessorial rate schedule when the rate schedule has both of the following:
Charge type based on quantity (miles, weight, volume, count, or percent of revenue)
Row and/or column option based on quantity
A maximum is applied when the calculated charge for the high end of a range exceeds an entry in the MAX cell for that range.
In Rate 170 below, rows are set as distance ranges and columns are set as weight ranges. Flat rate maximums have been entered for both a row and a column:
Rate 170 was used to calculate the line haul charge for the order shown below:
The system applied a maximum charge of $350 because:
The distance is greater than 100 miles, but less than 300 miles.
The weight is greater than 40,000 pounds.
The MAX value for that distance/weight combination is set at $350.
