How the system applies a trip definition restriction
For this example, we have two rates for our Bill To, IMPCLE. Rate#224, shown here, uses the INTRA OHIO trip definition as a restriction.
We created rate #224 to give our customer a price break on trips starting and ending in Ohio. Rate #225 does not.
We have two orders billable to IMPCLE to rate:
Order 953 is for a trip that starts in Cleveland, Ohio, and ends in Chicago, Illinois.
Order 952 is for a trip that starts in Cleveland, Ohio, and ends in Cincinnati, Ohio.
When order 953 is rated, the rating engine automatically applies rate #225 (which does not have a trip definition restriction). This rate applies a line haul charge of $1.895 per mile.
When order 952 is rated, rate #224 is applied because it is specific to orders for trips that start and end within the state of Ohio.
This rate applies a line haul charge of $1.585 per mile.
