How autosplit billing options are applied
Three types of rates are used to bill for accessorial charges:
Secondary
Secondary rates are used for accessorial charges that can be predicted. Secondary rates must be linked to a primary rate. When the system applies a primary rate to an order, it verifies whether there are any attached secondary rates that match the order. If there are, the system applies these rates as well.
Line item rates and linked line item rates
These rates are used for accessorial charges that are applied on an "as needed" basis. They represent accessorial charges that cannot be predicted in advance, such as detention time. They are applied only when the following conditions are true:
An accessorial invoice detail with a $.00 amount has been added to an order.
The charge type on the invoice detail matches the charge type on a line item or linked line item rate.
A linked line item rate must be linked to a primary rate. A linked line item rate is applied to an accessorial if the following conditions are true:
1) A primary rate matches an order.
2) A zero dollar ($.00) accessorial charge exists.
3) A matching linked line item rate is attached to the primary.
Unlike secondary and linked line item rates, line item rates are not linked to primary rates. A line item rate is applied to an order only when the following conditions are true:
1) A zero dollar ($.00) accessorial charge exists.
2) A primary rate matches an order.
3) A matching linked line item rate is not applicable for the order.
4) A matching line item rate exists.
The autosplit feature is supported for all of these rate types in Order Entry, Dispatch, and Invoicing.
