Using an event type restriction on a rate schedule without an event-based pay type
In previous topics, the focus was on how to tie specific pay rate dollar amounts to particular event types. However, you can use the Event restriction field on the index even if the pay type for a rate is not event-based. This enables you to restrict usage of a rate schedule to trip segments that have at least one instance of a specified event type.
For example, suppose drivers receive a lower per-mile rate for trips that begin with a Hook Preload event. This illustration shows how such a rate could be set up.
This rate schedule will be applied only if a trip has a Hook Preload event. The pay type Route Pay is mileage-based rather than event-based. Therefore, a per-mile rate will be calculated.
