CoPilot ending support for rooted devices
As of July 10, 2026, CoPilot will no longer support installation on rooted devices. "Rooting" a device is the process of gaining administrative access to the operating system, which can allow users to bypass security restrictions and modify system files. CoPilot is integrated into many different partner apps and platforms, and we want to ensure that all users have a consistent and secure experience. Rooted devices can pose security risks and may not be compatible with the latest features and updates in CoPilot 11.
The last version to support rooted devices is CoPilot 11.3.0.2088. If you have a rooted device and want to continue using future versions of CoPilot, you will need to either:
-
Unroot your device or upgrade to a non-rooted device.
-
No longer install updates and remain on the last supported version in order to continue using CoPilot.
How do I know if my device is rooted?
No mainstream retail Android or iOS devices come rooted from the manufacturer. Rooting has to be done by the owner using special developer tools.
If you haven’t deliberately rooted your device, this change will not affect you.
