Using the Stop option with secondary rates (Rate by Detail only)
You can use the Stop autosplitting option for a secondary rate only if the following conditions are true:
You use Rate by Detail mode to calculated charges for an order.
The secondary charge is linked to a primary rate that matches freight detail(s) on the order.
On the Index Settings tab of the secondary rate, the Bill To Cmp ID field is set to Stop.
When you rate an order in Rate by Detail mode, the system applies a line haul rate to each freight detail individually. When it applies a primary rate to a freight detail, it also applies any applicable secondary rates that are linked to it. If the Bill To Cmp ID field is set to Stop on the Index Settings tab of a secondary rate, the system assigns the accessorial charge to the stop company associated with the freight detail.
The following example illustrates how the Stop option works when secondary rates for a Rate by Detail order are applied. Order 2911 has three stops, each of which has a freight detail.
Stop 1 | Located at company LIGGAR. The primary rate for the first freight detail is linked with secondary rate 605, which is for Tarping. Stop is selected as the autosplitting option in rate 605. |
Stop 2 | Located at company ROYCAN. The primary rate for the second freight detail is linked with secondary rate 627, which is for Furniture Wrapping. Stop is selected as the autosplitting option in rate 627. |
Stop 3 | Located at company KENKOK. The primary rate for the third freight detail is linked with secondary rate 627, which is for Furniture Wrapping. Stop is selected as the autosplitting option in rate 627 |
In this illustration, the Accessorial and Secondary Charges window in Order Entry shows the charges that result when the secondary rates are applied to order 2911. For each accessorial charge, the Party To Bill field specifies the ID of the company to be billed. Each charge reflects the company ID of the stop to which the accessorial applies.
Warning: When you rate an order in Rate by Total mode, the Stop autosplitting option is not functional for secondary rates. If you attempt to use it with a Rate by Total order, the system will ignore the entry of Stop in the Bill To Cmp ID field on the secondary rate. It will assign the line haul Bill To company to any accessorial charge generated via that rate.
