What is Trimble Compass?
Trimble Compass is the first AI-driven answer engine available to Trimble customers! This tool uses natural language processing AI to answer questions about our Trimble Transportation products. Our goal is to create a better user experience to promote self-service.
Trimble Compass searches our customer-facing product documentation, summarizes the content, and provides a curated response—all in a matter of seconds. It can remember the context of conversations so users can follow up with additional questions or ask for an expanded explanation. Compass can even understand questions in one language and answer in another, removing language barriers. Users can also rate the accuracy of Compass’ responses so we can continuously improve our content.
Why did we create Trimble Compass?
We created Trimble compass to empower our customers with efficient, impactful, and accessible learning. This tool harnesses the power of AI to:
Fit learning and development around daily tasks
Provide multiple language options to serve our global audience
Support learning at the time of need
Is Trimble Compass intended to replace other forms of learning?
Nope! We believe that catering to different learning styles helps set Trimble apart by creating an inclusive, effective learning environment. While we hope Compass will provide a more efficient way for customers to get answers to product questions, we know this tool cannot answer every possible question or be the best way for every customer to learn how to use their Trimble solutions.
For example, a user who is onboarding to a new product may not even know what questions to ask in the first place! A video course that walks them through a workflow and allows them to see a process in action may better meet their needs. We will continue to provide online help, interactive eLearnings, training videos, and other forms of educational content along with Trimble Compass.
What if Trimble Compass cannot answer a question?
We are hopeful that Trimble Compass can reduce the time you spend searching for, reading through, and digesting product documentation, as well as contacting support for assistance.
But while AI is helpful, we know it isn’t perfect. Trimble Compass is intended to answer customer questions about our Trimble Transportation products, based on the general “out-of-the-box” product functionality described in our product documentation. Although we strive to provide accurate and complete answers, Compass may not be able to answer every question a user may have, especially questions that apply to a customer’s specific use case, workflow, user permissions, or custom-configured product.
This is why the tool’s Additional Menus have links to allow you to submit a support ticket or let us know if you think our documentation needs to be expanded. We have also created some tips on how to better prompt the tool—as with any AI chatbot, rephrasing a question or providing additional details can often obtain a better response.
