Set up PM tracking for Clean Truck Check (HD I/M)
The Clean Truck Check (HD I/M) is a mandate set by the California Air Resources Board (CARB). HD I/M stands for Heavy-Duty Inspection and Maintenance. This topic reviews how to set up a preventive maintenance (PM) task to meet CARB HD I/M requirements.

First, you’ll create a new PM code (also known as a codekey) that reflects the required inspection schedule. You will assign the codekey a component code, which is a unique identifier for a specific preventive maintenance task.

Go to Menu > Setup > System Setup. The System Setup page opens.

In the Codes pane, under the System node, expand the ATA node.

Select 000 PM Codes. The Details pane opens on the right side of the page.

At the bottom of the Codes pane, select Add. In the Codes pane, the words New Code appear in red. The Details pane refreshes to show the fields for a new code.

Complete these fields:
Required field: *
Field Definition Code *
This is the component code field. PM component codes have six numbers or letters, all starting with “000.” You can then add letters to complete the second group of three. For example, to name a CARB HD I/M code, you could enter 000-CRB.
Description *
Enter a short, clear description, such as CARB HD I/M Inspection.
Active
This field sets whether the code is in use. It is set to YES by default. Leave this field set to YES.
Job Code Component Match
This field shows whether there is a matching nine-digit job code for this code. It is set to NO by default. Leave this set to NO.
Handheld
To be available with the mobile computing add-on module, you must set this option to YES. If you don’t have the mobile computing module, you can leave this set to NO.
Wash Ticket Code
This field is used for Tank Wash processing. Leave this field set to NO.
Component UDF
Leave this field blank.

Select Save at the bottom of the Details pane. The new code appears in the Codes pane, and the PM Schedule section appears in the Details pane.

In the PM Schedule section, set the PM Detection field to 50%. This means inspections will be tracked twice a year.

You can ignore the Limit Number of PMs to and the Use Last Day of Month fields.

Select Save.
