Tips to improve a response
If you want Compass to produce high-quality responses, consider the following:
Verify the subject
Verify you are asking your question in the right product area. While some documentation may apply across multiple subjects, most do not. You will receive the best answer if you have selected the correct product.
Be specific
By using precise language and providing detailed questions, you increase the chances of receiving accurate responses that align with your needs.
For example, instead of asking help with stop, try asking how do I add a stop to my route.
Add context
Adding context can enhance the quality of responses significantly. Including background information, screen/part names of the product, or additional keywords helps narrow down possibilities.
For example, asking reason late setting may not provide the correct answer because there is a setting related to Reason Late and a label named Reason Late. Trimble Compass may not understand which attribute you are asking about. Asking how do I enable reason late setting or even better how do I enable reason late setting in the INI file provides the correct answer because the question helps distinguish the specific area of the software.
Engage actively
Compass learns through interaction. You can help improve its accuracy by actively engaging with it. Use the Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down icons to rate the responses the tool provides, ask follow-up questions, or request clarifications to help Compass adapt to you.
For example, asking how to create a repair order provides a concise step-by-step response that is easy to follow. However, a new user may want some additional detail. Asking a follow-up question like can you expand on this answer provides information on other features, such as line types that may affect the creation of a repair order.
Reword your question
If Compass is not providing the answer you expect, try using different words or phrases to ask your question, ask for more details, or request the tool to give you the answer step-by-step. Compass is designed to learn your preferences during a chat session.
For example, availability report provides a summary of the Availability Report, which might not be the answer you were seeking. Rephrasing your question to where can I see the availability report or how do I run an availability report will provide relevant steps on these related but separate tasks.
