Unit Meters/Fluids tab

The Meters/Fluids tab includes two sections:

You use the Meter Information section to define the meters used to track different units of utilization for the unit. Meters can be physical or non-physical, and examples include Days, Months, Odometer, Hub meter, Cases, Yards, and so on.

Meter types are user-defined. You set them up on the Meters, Fluids, PMs Setup page (opened by selecting Menu > Setup > Meters, Fluids, PMs Setup). If meters are grouped to unit types in Meter Setup, the program automatically creates those meters when you add a unit with that unit type.

For more information on working with meters and fluids, see Meters and fluids.

Meter Information

This section provides information for a unit’s meter details.

Field Definition

Meter Type

Meter type used for tracking unit utilization (such as ECM, Odometer, Days, Hour Meter)

Note: Your company determines the options available in this field.

UOM

Unit of measure for the meter type (such as Miles, Kilometers, Hours, Cubic Yards, Days)

Position

Position on the unit where the meter is found

Note: This field applies to physical meters only.

Daily Max

Maximum daily usage available for a meter type

Last Read

Last date the unit’s meter reading was entered into the system

Reading

Last meter reading entered into the system

Life To Date

Unit’s total usage recorded for the meter type measured from when the unit was put into service

Primary

Indicates whether this meter is the primary meter type

Options:

  • Y (yes)

  • N (no)

Note: You only can have one primary meter type.

Physical

Meter classification

  • Physical Meter
Physical meters use a mechanical or electronic method for tracking and utilization, such as an Odometer.

  • Non-physical Meter
Non-physical meters do not use mechanical or electronic methods for tracking and utilization, such as Days.

Fuel

Identifies if fuel tickets require meter readings

RO

Identifies if repair orders require meter readings

Gate Check

Identifies if gate checks require meter readings

Inspection

Identifies if inspection tickets require meter readings

Validate

Identifies if the system validates meter readings

Note: If YES, the system validates meter readings against previous readings and the daily maximum.

Auto Load

Identifies if the system loads the most recent meter reading automatically

Note: This feature works with:

  • Repair Orders

  • Fuel Tickets

  • Gate Check

  • Inspection Tickets

Read Only

Identifies if the meter reading field is read-only on orders

Note: Usually, this option is set to YES when meter readings are imported from a third part, such as PeopleNet.

Collapse Meter Readings

Identifies if the system displays the most current meter reading or if it displays all meter readings

Fluid Information

This section provides information for a unit’s fluid details.

Field Definition

Fluid Type

Fluid type (such as Diesel, Gasoline, Oil, 15W40)

Note: This field is displayed if the Part Type field is set to Fluids.

Capacity

Capacity of the selected fluid type the unit can store

For example, suppose a unit has a 55 gallon fuel tank. The capacity would be 55.

UOM

Unit of measure for the fluid type (such as Quarts, Gallons, or Liters)

Primary

Unit’s primary fluid type (such as Diesel, Gasoline, Propane)

Last Added

Last date this unit received the listed fluid type

Note: When a fuel ticket is entered, the system will update this date for the appropriate fuel type.
