Unit Warranty tab

The Warranty tab has three parts:

  • OEM Warranty section

  • Extended Warranty tab: This tab is shown by default.

  • Aftermarket Warranty tab

OEM Warranty section

OEM stands for original equipment manufacturer. An OEM warranty is the warranty provided by the manufacturer of the unit. This is usually in the form of a bumper-to-bumper warranty. You can enter up to three meter types to track warranty for the unit.

With one exception, any meter used to track warranty for the unit must exist on the Unit Meters/Fluids tab. The Months meter is the exception; it does not need to be completed on the tab.

The program uses the value for the In Service field to determine the starting point for tracking OEM warranty.

Date the unit’s OEM warranty started

Meter 1

Meter type used to measure warranty information (such as ECM, Odometer, Days)

Meter 2

Meter type used to measure warranty information (such as ECM, Odometer, Days)

Meter 3

Meter type used to measure warranty information (such as ECM, Odometer, Days)

Meter 1 Lifetime

Duration of the warranty using the selected meter type

Meter 2 Lifetime

Duration of the warranty using the selected meter type

Meter 3 Lifetime

Duration of the warranty using the selected meter type

Extended Warranty sub-tab

An extended warranty is an option you can buy from a unit’s OEM that lengthens the extent of the original warranty. The Extended Warranty sub-tab contains data for any units or components that have an extended warranty.

Warranty manufacturer’s ID

Note: The system uses the standard ATA codes for the manufacturer’s ID.

Warranty Class

Identification number or name that identifies this warranty

Vendor

Vendor providing the Extended Equipment Manufacturer Warranty

Start Date

Date to begin tracking the extended warranty

Note: This would normally be the date the component’s installation on the unit.

Meter 1

Type of meter used to measure warranty information (such as Mileage, Number of months)

Life 1

Duration of the warranty using the selected meter type

Meter 2

Type of meter used to measure warranty information (such as Mileage, Number of months)

Life 2

Duration of the warranty using the selected meter type

Meter 3

Type of meter used to measure warranty information (such as Mileage, Number of months)

Life 3

Duration of the warranty using the selected meter type

Expendable

Indicates whether the system disregards warranty information for the component code

Aftermarket Warranty sub-tab

An aftermarket warranty is any warranty you buy from someone other than the OEM; that is, a warranty you buy from a third party. The Aftermarket Warranty sub-tab contains data for any units or components that have an aftermarket warranty.

Meter 1

Warranty 1

Number that represents the duration of the warranty based on the selected meter type

For example, use number of miles for Odometer, and number of days for Days.

Meter 2

Meter type used to measure warranty information (such as ECM, Odometer, Days, Hour Meter)

Warranty 2

Number that represents the duration of the warranty based on the selected meter type

For example, use number of miles for Odometer, and number of days for Days.

Meter 3

Number that represents the duration of the warranty based on the selected meter type
