When the Forecaster generates orders for a particular tank at a store, it determines whether each order is critical, or whether it can wait. Entries that you make in the Commodity Forecast Setup window allow the Forecaster to make these evaluations.

The system calculates an expected reading for a tank based on the previous day’s expected reading, deliveries received, and the expected sales. The expected reading and actual reading are rarely the same. The system uses your Tank Audit Rule to determine if the difference between them is acceptable.

When you make manual changes to a forecasted order, typically you want the consignee’s remaining projected orders to be updated based on real-time changes. This video demonstrates how to set up your system so that these updates are performed automatically.

During a holiday or special event, a gas station may sell more or fewer amounts of fuel. Inventory Services stores all historical sales data. You can use this data to generate sales reports. This information will help dispatchers anticipate consumption patterns and identify sales trends. It will also allow them to reduce retains and runouts due to date- or event-related forecasting issues.

Verifying a reading is less than the tank’s capacity (1:28)

The Forecaster relies on accurate data to be effective. If you enter or import a reading that is larger than the tank’s capacity, the system displays a warning. It tells you to modify the reading value to be less than the tank’s capacity.
