Sections and lines overview

A repair order (RO) tracks the costs to maintain equipment. You use the Repair Order page to create a repair order.

An estimate is a description of the parts and labor required to complete a proposed repair.

All ROs and estimates are made up of one or more sections. Each section requires a component code, which categorizes the type of maintenance needed for the repair.

Each section is made up of one or more lines. Lines detail the parts, labor, and services used by the RO. Lines can also track comments made about the section.

You can think of ROs and estimates as filing cabinets. The sections act as the drawers of the filing cabinets. The lines act like folders inside section drawers. Unlike a file cabinet, however, you can add more sections as needed.

This illustration shows the RO structure, including the option of adding more sections. The structure of an estimate is the same.
