Commodity Forecast Setup
Video | Description |
---|---|
Commodity forecasts provide the information the system needs to determine when a store needs product and how much product should be delivered on an individual order. This video provides an overview of the Commodity Forecast Setup window, where you define forecasts for each product you want to monitor. |
|
This video demonstrates how to import tank information into the Commodity Forecast Setup window. |
|
For the Forecaster to effectively predict when a store needs product delivered, the forecaster requires baseline sales quantities for each store product. In Inventory Services, this is done during the commodity forecast setup. |
|
For the Forecaster to effectively predict when a store needs product delivered, the Forecaster must know how much product is sold during each day of the week. In Inventory Services, we define these as daily time segments. |
|
Adjust sales model using Forecaster Console application (2:33) |
Sales models are static by default and are generally adjusted manually or on a schedule. Instead, you can set up the Forecaster Console application to track daily sales increases/decreases for all tanks or for an individual tank. |
Commodity forecasts provide the information the system needs to determine when a store needs product, and how much product should be delivered on individual orders. Before the Forecaster can generate orders for a store, it must have information required on the order. You enter this information on the Commodity Forecast Setup window’s Forecaster tab. |

Recording tank-specific information for Forecast Setup (5:32) |
Commodity forecasts determine when a store needs product, and how much product should be delivered on individual orders. When the Forecaster generates orders for a particular tank at a store, it determines whether each order is critical, or whether it can wait. Entries that you make in the Commodity Forecast Setup window allow the Forecaster to make these evaluations. |
Defining tank audit rules (2:30) |
The system calculates an expected reading for a tank based on the previous day’s expected reading, deliveries received, and the expected sales. The expected reading and actual reading are rarely the same. The system uses your Tank Audit Rule to determine if the difference between them is acceptable. |

Reforecasting automatically when an order is changed manually (2:10) |
When you make manual changes to a forecasted order, typically you want the consignee’s remaining projected orders to be updated based on real-time changes. This video demonstrates how to set up your system so that these updates are performed automatically. |
Order Forecast Review
Video | Description |
---|---|
Modifying a company’s forecast using Order Forecast Review (1:58) |
The Forecaster predicts when a store will need a product delivered. You want the Forecaster to predict orders that maintain the product levels that meet demand, but you also want the predicted orders to be profitable for your company while fitting within the customer’s expectations. In the event the predicted orders do not meet the customer’s or your company’s expectations you will need to modify the forecast. |
Reviewing hourly projections (1:47) |
This video provides an overview of the Hourly Details Projection tab. Use this tab to review hourly projections of a particular store. |
As the Forecaster evaluates a store’s tank information, it determines when deliveries are needed. In the Order Forecast Review window, the Orders Projection tab displays the orders the Forecaster anticipates a store will need. |
Working with the sales model
Video | Description |
---|---|
During a holiday or special event, a gas station may sell more or fewer amounts of fuel. Inventory Services stores all historical sales data. You can use this data to generate sales reports. This information will help dispatchers anticipate consumption patterns and identify sales trends. It will also allow them to reduce retains and runouts due to date- or event-related forecasting issues. |
