Parts Transfer

Parts Managers, Parts Clerks, and other inventory specialists need a way to track all part transactions for part transfers. The TMT Fleet Maintenance (TMT) Parts Transfers process benefits Parts Managers, Parts Clerks, and anyone who is transferring and shipping parts from one shop inventory location to a shop inventory at a different location.

When Parts Transfers are created, the sending shop inventory is decreased, and the destination shop inventory is increased. You can choose whether the program completes these transfers immediately or after the parts arrive at the destination shop. If you choose to have the program complete the transfer after the parts arrive at their destination, the program tracks those parts while they are in transit.

Order Type

Indicates the type of TMT Order used to track and process Parts Transfers: TRANSFER.

Transfer Type

There are two transfer types:

  • TRANSFER-OUT: Indicates a transfer of parts out of an inventory.

  • TRANSFER-IN: Indicates a transfer of parts into an inventory.

Transfer Method

There are two transfer methods:

  • IMMEDIATE

  • IN-TRANSIT

IMMEDIATE: The parts transfer order is opened, modified, and closed in one continuous process. The system:

  • Decreases the part quantity-on-hand (QOH) from the source shop.

  • Increases the QOH in the destination shop.

IN-TRANSIT: The parts transfer order is processed in multiple steps.

  • You create a parts transfer order and add items.

    • The order can remain open until you are ready to process it (that is, start the parts transfer).

    • You can add more items later before processing the transfer.

  • As you add items to the order:

    • QOH decreases in the source shop.

    • Quantity-on-order (QOO) increases in the destination shop.

  • When you process the transfer, the system indicates that the parts have been shipped and are currently IN-TRANSIT.

  • Parts arrive at the destination shop and are added to the inventory.

  • The system marks the parts as received and increases the QOH and decreases the QOO for the destination shop.

You can only select one method per Parts Transfer. You cannot change the method after you create the order.
