Rating module overview

The Rating module is used to define the various sets of transportation rates. The Rates Maintenance program is the main program used to configure automatic rating within the TruckMate suite of applications. The other programs within the rating module are used to import rate tables from other third party sources.

  • CPUC
The CPUC Tariff Import program allows you to import California PUC (Public Utilities Commission) rating tables. Although the PUC is no longer enforced in California, many carriers within the California region have adopted this system.

  • CzarLite
The CzarLite rating system (using the RateWare XL LTL rating engine) is a tariff structure designed by SMC3. TruckMate gives the ability to import the CzarLite rating data into TruckMate’s rating database. The CzarLite tariff system is zip-code based, and designed for LTL carriers. In order to import the CzarLite data into the TruckMate system, you must first purchase the data files from SMC. The CzarLite Data Import program is used to import the data, and also to test and delete CzarLite rates. Before import CzarLite tariffs, see the CzarLite Rating Setup topic. After the CzarLite data has been imported, see the Rates Maintenance documentation for information about configuring the tariff tables for use.

  • D83
The RMB (Rocky Mountain Tariff Bureau Inc.) Division Sheet D-83 is an accepted industry standard used in determining the division of revenue between multiple carriers moving a single load. TruckMate provides a utility to import the D-83 rate structure into your TruckMate database and then allow you to set up Split Rate Sheets to apply to your Interline Vendors using the D83 Tariff Import program.

  • NATC
The NATC Tariff Import program is used to import NATC (North American Transport Council) Tariff information into your TruckMate system. It functions like other Import programs, in that it converts third party information into a useable format in your TruckMate tables.

  • Rates Maintenance
The Rates Maintenance program is used to configure automatic rating. On the Details tab of the Customer Service program and in the Quick Bill Entry program, charges will automatically be calculated based on the shipment details you enter, in combination with the origin and destination zones specified in the bill header. You can set up as many rate tables as you need; they can be configured to apply to all your customers and Interliners, or only to those customers and Interliners you specify. In this program, you can also generate and print quotes, generate printed rate proposals and confirmations, and view expired rate tables assigned to customers and Interliners.

The Rates Maintenance program also provides access to the Rate Base Number Maintenance window used to group zone codes together for specific customers for the purposes of automatic rating. When automatic rating is performed by the Customer Service program, the Quick Bill Entry program, or on the Simulation tab of the Rates Maintenance program, data in Rate Base Number Maintenance is checked to see if the delivery zone (or, if blank, the Postal or Zip code) falls into the range specified in Rate Base Number Maintenance for the Bill To customer. If it does, the Rating Zone from the Rate Base Number Maintenance is used in place of the delivery zone for the purpose of determining the charges.
