Business rules for the Set Unit Physical Location On RO Status Change option

When you set the Set Unit Physical Location on RO Status Change Application option to YES, the program updates a unit’s location data based on these rules. They apply to standard repair orders (SROs) and vendor repair orders (VROs).

In all these cases, the Set Unit Physical Location On RO Status Change application option must be set to YES. If the option is set to NO, the program does not update the Physical Location of any unit.

RO Type And the user The program

Standard

Leaves the Physical Location set to IN-SHOP, since there is at least one other SRO in Open status. The Physical Shop Location reflects the shop number of one of the remaining Open SROs.

Vendor

Changes one VRO from Open to Complete, Closed, Canceled, or Pending

Leaves the Physical Location set to AT-VENDOR, since there is at least one other VRO in Open status

Standard

Vendor

Changes the only SRO from Open status to Complete, Closed, Canceled, or Pending, but there is still a VRO in Open status

Sets the unit’s Physical Location to AT-VENDOR and the unit’s Physical Shop Location to blank (null)

Standard

Vendor

changes the only VRO from Open status to Complete, Closed, Canceled, or Pending, but there is still an SRO in Open status

Leaves the unit’s Physical Location as IN-SHOP

  1. If the unit has at least one SRO and VRO in Open status, the program always gives precedence to the SRO. It sets the Physical Location to IN-SHOP and the Physical Shop Location to the SRO shop.

  2. In all cases, if the RO status is changed from Complete to Closed, the program makes no more updates to the unit’s Physical Location, since it would have already updated the location when the user changed the status from Open to Complete.
