Before upgrading your production environment, Trimble recommends that you read the system requirements and install the latest version in a test environment. If you have questions, please contact your Trimble customer representative.

Warnings

Social Security number encryption warning

Starting in version 2020.2, Social Security numbers you enter in the Driver profile are encrypted in the database by default.
However, you can set up the system so that the Social Security numbers you enter in the Driver profile are not encrypted in the database.
To do so, set the DataEncryption General Info Table setting’s String1 field to N.

The Data Conversion Administration Utility lets you encrypt/decrypt a group of Social Security numbers in your database. Contact your Professional Services representative to obtain the DataConversionAdministrationUtilityInstall.msi.

Access and usage of The Data Conversion Administration Utility should only be provided to a system administrator. That utility provides access to all highly sensitive data and should only be used in the explicit instance of needing to encrypt or decrypt the driver profile.

Cancel order/trip feature warning

Starting in version 2020.1, the user interface for the cancel order/trip functionality has changed. Several enhancements were made to make the process easier and more intuitive. Also, the same Cancel Trip/Order window is now used in both Order Entry and in the Trip Folder.

User level record security

Starting with TMW Operations version 2019.1, there is a functional change that will affect customers using custom views on Company Planner, Brokerage, or Covering boards that rely on User Level Record Security. Affected customers may need to contact Support for assistance before upgrading. See the User level record security resolved issue for details.

Minimum technical requirements for 17.50 or higher warning

To upgrade from a build lower than 17.50 to 17.50 or higher, you must follow these steps.

  1. Notify your Support team that you will upgrade. (As noted in Step 4, they will need to work with you to complete the installation process.)

  2. Verify that your environment adheres to these minimum technical requirements:

    • Microsoft .NET Framework version 4.6.2 must be installed.

    • Client operating systems must be at Windows 7 SP1 or higher.

    • Server operating systems must be at Windows Server 2012 or higher.

    • In addition, verify that your system adheres to the additional requirements listed in the General requirements section for the build you are upgrading to.

  3. Run the TMW Operations installation program.

  4. Before any users attempt to use TMW Operations, call your Support representative to have them update your Planning Worksheet boards.

Trimble Transportation has added columns to the system default Planning Worksheet views to enhance the inline editing feature. These columns also must be added to all custom views. Support will perform this step for you at no cost.

Case sensitive passwords warning

Starting with V.17.50, the system treats all passwords as case sensitive. This includes existing passwords.

This change affects how you log in with an existing password:

  • If your password was created with [Misc]CaseSensitivePasswords=OFF in your TTS50, you must enter that password in all upper case characters.

  • If your password was created with [Misc]CaseSensitivePasswords=ON in your TTS50, you can enter that password as you originally recorded it (case sensitive).

Requirements

Before you begin installing TMW Operations version 2023.2, check that these requirements are met:

  • TMWSuite®
    You must be using TMWSuite V. 2023.2.

  • TMW Back Office
    If you are using TMW Back Office, your version of TMW Operations must be the same as your version of TMW Back Office.

  • Microsoft® .NET Framework
    .NET Framework 4.6.2 or later (full package not client)

    The framework must be installed on the TMW Operations server, client, and administrator systems before you install TMW Operations. If it is not present, the system displays an advisory message during the installation. Install the framework before running the application.

  • Internet Information Services (IIS) for Microsoft Windows Server®
    IIS Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 or later

  • Microsoft SQL Server®

    • Microsoft SQL Server 2012 or later

      Note: SQL Server 2014, SQL Server 2016, SQL Server 2017, SQL Server 2019, and SQL Server 2022 are certified for use with this application. Trimble Transportation recommends using the latest service pack of whichever version you use.

  • You must be logged into the system where you want to install TMW Operations, and have administrator rights for that system.
    Like most applications, TMW Operations can be installed locally on a user’s system. It is also possible to install TMW Operations on a network drive. To do so, you must be logged into the system where the drive is physically located, and have administrator rights for that system.

  • SQL Server System Administrator rights are necessary.
    The installation of TMW Operations includes the manual application of a SQL script to the TMWSuite database. You must have a SQL Server administrator login and password to apply it.

Enhancements

Freight Board Interface

DAT Priority Booking (TTESUITE-205375)

You use Trimble’s TMW Freight Board Interface application to post available loads and trucks to one or more freight board services. When you subscribe to multiple freight board services, your postings can be made to all of your freight board services at the same time, or you can send a posting to specific boards. Now, if you use the vendor DAT you can export carrier contacts from your TMW TMS to DAT’s website portal DAT One. With DAT Priority Booking you can make use of Private Networks (PN). A PN consists of carriers represented by contacts that a DAT customer will do business with. Loads can be posted to a PN, entire board or both, and loads can be negotiable in the DAT One portal if posted to the PN. These options have been added to the TMW Freight Board Interface application:

  • DAT Username field added to the Contacts tab (Always shown in the application)

  • DAT Priority Booking tab (Only visible when the vendor DAT is enabled and has the TTC API Enabled checkbox selected)

  • DAT Audience section added to the Create Posting tab (Only visible when posting a load to DAT with the TTC API Enabled checkbox selected)

  • TTC Configuration tab (Only accessible if a Window’s administrator)

  • TTC API Enabled* checkbox added to the Vendor Options tab (Only visible for DAT)

Note: These options will vary in visibility and accessibility as noted above.

Mileage

Company Lat/Long Validation window (TTESUITE-205746)

Previously, you were not able to look up Lat/Long coordinates for multiple Companies at the same time in TMW Operations. You could only lookup coordinates for a single Company in the Company Profile. Now, you can use a Company Lat/Long Validation window. This is available when the setting [.NetOperations] EnableCompanyLatLongValidation=Y in your TTS50. The window is located in TMW Operations > Tools > Tools Maintenance > Company Lat/Long Validation.

In the Company Lat/Long Validation window you can:

  • Lookup coordinates between companies

  • Verify if Lat/Long coordinates are not assigned to a company

Note: If coordinates are not assigned and you need to change a Company address, you do this in the Company profile.

If you need to update Lat/Long coordinates between companies, in the window you will:

  1. Enter the Company ID’s in the From Company and To Company fields.

  2. Select the Refresh button.

  3. Select the Lookup Coordinates button.

  4. Select the Replace Existing Lat/Longs checkbox in the window. This will also add a check mark to the checkbox in the UpdateLatLong column in the grid.

  5. Select the Update button.

The coordinates will be updated to your database.

Planning Worksheet

Driver Mass Assign (TTESUITE-204554)

Previously, if you planned out drivers several days in the future, the times did not cascade from order to order. This happened when planning drivers with multiple orders. Now, a Driver Mass Assign window is available in the Planning Worksheet. In the window you can assign assets to multiple legs at the same time. The Pickup/Drop date and times will cascade based on the Start date and times and can be updated manually when needed.

Mass Assign Dates (TTESUITE-204729)

Previously, if you wanted to plan trips to the next work day, you would have to manually update the first stop earliest pickup date and the earliest and latest dates for all stops in the Trip Folder. Now, from the Planning Worksheet you can select multiple rows from the Available Trips grid, right-click and select a Mass Assign Dates window. This lets you plan multiple trips in the future.
Note: This works for trips that are in an Available (AVL) status only.

Trimble Places

The Trimble Places feature in TMW Operations integrates company location data in the TMWSuite database with Trimble Place data compiled by Trimble Maps. This provides a centralized collection point for customer addresses.

Viewing average facility dwell times (TTESUITE-203922)

Dwell time is the total amount of time that a driver is at a facility. It includes time spent loading and unloading, as well as any slack or detention time.

With Trimble Places, you can view average dwell times for a particular facility.

There are two types of dwell time information available:

  • Global: Calculated across all transportation companies that collect dwell time data

  • Fleet: Calculated across a single transportation company’s fleet of trucks

To use this feature, you must determine how and when the system receives dwell time information. You do this when setting up options in the Trimble Places Configuration window.

You can then view dwell times in:

  • The facility’s company profile

  • The Trip Folder Stops grid

Trip Planner

Swap Driver Shifts (TTESUITE-204735)

Before, the process of transferring shifts from one driver to another was a one-way manual process. For example, if you added all of the trips on one driver’s shift to the end of a second driver’s shift. This would result in the first driver having no trips on their shift, and the second driver having too many trips on their shift. Now, you can use the Swap Driver Shifts feature that provides the ability to swap between two or more driver’s shifts. You can access the feature in the Trip Planner in the Swap Shifts window. The system will automatically swap any trips between a driver’s shift that you select that are in a Planned (PLN) status.

Carrier Profile

  • TTESUITE-203932
    If you had two contacts in the Contacts tab and tried to update the default contact, an error occurred.

EDI

  • TTESUITE-201554
    Previously, if you used the CreateOrderFromMaster Interface Setting in a 2017 version of TMWSuite and upgraded to a 2019 version or later; the functionality had changed. When importing a flat 204 file that matched a Master Order in the 2017 version, stop events were not required to match between the flat 204 file and the Master Order being copied. In the 2019 or later version, the pickup and drop events needed to match between the flat 204 and the Master Order being copied from. Now, the inbound flat 204 file will tie to a Master Order when stop events do not match.

  • TTESUITE-203587
    If you manually added a stop comment in the Stops grid to an EDI order in TMW Operations; the stop comment was not removed from the updated 204. For example, if the order had three stops and the second stop was to be deleted, the third stop on the order had the comment for the deleted stop. A Global DX setting StopUpdateSync has been added to the DX Configuration application. When this setting is activated by selecting the checkbox in the application, it will:

    • Take a snapshot of the current stops

    • Preserve stop comments as part of the EDI 204 import.

Event Code

  • TTESUITE-201070
    When you had a split trip and used the ULC (Unload complete) event code on the second leg, an error would occur. This happened with a trip sequence of LLD, LUL, DLT, HLT, ULC, DMT.

Mileage

  • TTESUITE-205957
    When two locations had a Lat/Long distance in close proximity, the PC Miler lookup returned incorrect mileage. This happened with Company to Company lookups. Now, 0 mileage is recognized as Intracity and follows what is set in the [MileageInterface]IntraCityMileageMode setting.

Trip Folder

  • TTESUITE-203438
    When you made a copy of an order in the Copy Order/Trip window, the Earliest/Latest Date did not increment correctly. This happened when you:

    • Copied two or more orders

    • Adjusted the Day Increment to 2 or more

  • TTESUITE-204954
    When you had a split trip that had a Reason Late conflict validation on the first completed leg, you were not able to edit the second leg. The Reason Late validation was not being correctly evaluated in the system against a completed leg.

Trip Planner

  • TTESUITE-206269
    A time gap was added to a driver’s shift between the last trip and the second to last trip. This happened when you used the setting [.NetOperations]TripPlannerAutoAddFinalEMT=Y.
